Motorcycle safety is not just about obeying all the rules of the road and not ridding your your bike like a complete idiot. In order to really be safe you need to be wearing protection. You should never leave home without your leathers. A leather jacket will help you if the unthinkable should happen. In the event of an accident skidding along the pavement is not what any biker wants to have happen. Receiving a "road rash" is the usual out come of that event. If you have on a leather jacket and leather chaps of pants you will receive some protection from that "road rash". Better to were out your leather jacket than your own skin.
Still the best safety rule that you can adhere to is to always be aware of who is around you and drive defensively. You may see them, but they may not always see (or respect) you. So please be safe out there.

Simple leather repairs
Scratches and marks on leather can be buffed out with a soft cloth. For leather motorcycle jackets or jackets with lots of zippers and embellishments, polish the metal regularly to keep them shiny and functional. For that poor leather jacket that is beyond repair, seek the help of a professional who can help to refurbish your jacket. Love and take care of your leather jacket and it will give you years of dependable, fashionable use.
Caring for your leather
Whatever style of leather you wear it is important to properly store and care for your leatherwear. Leather can absorb odors, so it needs to be stored in a smoke free environment. For leather vests and the type you wear more as a garments, it is best to store them in a garment bag rather than in plastic since the latter encourages mildew growth. Keep leather jackets away from moisture and direct heat.
Use of a leather conditioner is a good regular maintenance tio that will help keep your leather soft and supple. Periodically spraying your leather with a waterproofing treatment is recommended, but beware not to overcoat and allow it time to dry before wearing.

Leather Motorcycle Jackets
No discussion of leather jackets would ever be complete without mentioning the legendary motorcycle jacket. If you ride a motorcycle, a great leather motorcycle jacket is the unofficial uniform of the pack. But leather motorcycle jackets are more than just fashion; they protect you from the wind and cold as you ride your Harley down the highway. Make sure the leather is at least one mm thick, preferably with a lining, to really protect you from the outdoor elements. You can complete your motorcycle look with a leather vest and chaps. Though not a necessity, both can add a layer of added protection. Look for "breathable" leather since a leather vest and chaps will be a closer fit to your body.

Leather Fashion
Leather Jackets are still one of the boldest modern fashion statements. They can have many different personalities- tough, cool, rugged and even sexy. No other form of jacket has this versatility. The Leather Jacket is a timeless classic that comes in styles to suit every mood, style and personality.
Leather Jackets can be extremely casual and fit your everyday wardrobe. Men and women both love the timeless appeal of the aviator or bomber-style jackets. These jackets usually hit at hip length with a pointed, folded down collar and have zipper or snap closures and pockets. Bomber jackets sometimes have a removable liner for extra warmth or collars lined with real or synthetic furs. They traditionally come in black, brown or tan, but modern versions can come in almost any color of the rainbow. For the fashion conscious, leather jackets with a more tailored fit can make you stand out at in any office or corporate meeting. Men can benefit with a more fitted jacket to fit the description of the "sharp dressed man" rather than a boxy-shouldered goon. For women, look for belted styles that cinch at the waist to slim your figure, or wear the newly popular scuba-style jacket that has a close fit with neat stitching and hidden zippers. Modern designers have taken the leather jacket apart and come up with all sorts of variations with asymmetrical zippers or embellishments such as studs or crystals.
